The Henry Group recently welcomed Kentaro Yamada, a visiting scholar from Keio University in Japan. Kentaro will be working on paper-based analytical devices for detecting transition metals during his time here.
Our recent paper by visiting student Thiago Cardoso on the colorimetric detection of falsified whiskey has won a Brazilian science award.
The work in collaboration with Wendell Coltro (Universidade Federal de Goiás) won 5th place in the “exact sciences and the earth” category, from the SBPC (Brazilian Society for Science Progress) Goiás regional awards. These honors are awarded to the best studies which help the community, and to demonstrate that science can help common people in their day-to-day lives.
We are very sad to see Camila Proença leave to return to the Bioanalytical and Electroanalytical Laboratory at the Federal University of São Carlos, Brazil.
Fortunately, her time here was very productive and we look forward to writing up the publications on all the excellent research she carried out during her stay.

We are very grateful to be joined this fall by Mark Nussbaum, who is the chair and Professor of Chemistry at Hillsdale College, Michigan. Mark is with us on sabbatical and will be working on paper-based analytical devices.

The Henry Group has moved out of the basement of the main chemistry building to the 4th floor of the brand new Chemistry Research building here at CSU! Our new lab space will continue to have a separate Fab Room for authorized users. The future is looking bright in our new lab!

Chase has returned from a successful placement with Eric Bakker at the University of Geneva / Switzerland, where he worked on distance based colorimetric tests for alkaline metals.
Congratulations to Shirley on her new job at Vibrant America, LLC! We’ll miss you!
